Claude traced a 25-year cryptography mystery to 1990s timestamps
For more than 25 years, the origin of some numbers used in cryptography that protects our online communications was unclear. On October 16, Anthropic said Claude had traced their origin. They were not secret passwords: they came from a computer clock in the 1990s.
An old program offered a new clue
Researchers had looked for a phrase that might have been turned into those numbers. Claude tried a different path, comparing published numbers with the output of a number-generating program commonly used at the time.
Several numbers could be reproduced with the old program lrand48, and the timestamps used to initialize it could be traced. Anthropic says the first finding took less than 30 minutes.
This does not mean the cryptography was broken
What Claude found was the origin of the numbers. Anthropic says it did not discover a weakness in the cryptography or a new way to attack it. Questions about some numbers remain open.
AI devised a way to investigate a longstanding question, wrote checks, and tested its answer against public numbers. That process has sparked discussion among technologists.
AI can widen the search, not just supply an answer.
What stands out in today's story about Claude investigating a longstanding cryptography mystery is not that it already knew the answer.
It considered an old program, checked the published numbers one by one, and tried another approach when they did not match.
AI moved through that back-and-forth itself and left an answer others could test. That is the interesting part.
In a separate study released the same day, Anthropic also used Claude to propose quantum-circuit designs, evaluate them automatically, and search for more efficient designs.
When people set the question and define how to test an answer, AI can generate candidates, check them, and move on to the next. This research pattern could carry over to product prototyping and improvement.
AI is moving from a tool that supplies answers to a partner that helps investigate and test them.
The description lists beginner and intermediate Illustrator courses, a book, and related resources. No caption excerpt is supplied, so it does not establish the Claude–After Effects workflow or model details suggested by the title.
The creator describes delegating editing to Claude Code for a 15-second promotional clip, HeyGen avatar footage, and character videos made with Google Flow. The walkthrough includes actual instructions, failed attempts and fixes, and turning the workflow into reusable skills.
This roundup revisits five AI stories covered October 5–10, including image generation, watermark detection, shopping, and agents with email identities. It discusses reported capabilities and incidents, then recommends specifying completion criteria, permission boundaries, and when an agent should stop and ask.
An AI engineer tours the apps and services they use for work as of October 2026. The description groups them by languages and frameworks, AI tools, editors and terminals, development infrastructure, creative production, business tasks, and Mac setup.
The uploader claims that X Subscription combines Grok, Cursor, Grok Bot, and X Premium into five plans, including a free tier. The description says the video covers plan prices, available features, registration steps, and points to watch.
The uploader claims Gemini 4 Argon was released and compares Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude on the same population research and slide-making assignment. The description also covers benchmark interpretation, the uploader’s experience with Spark, service integration and usage conditions, and their preferred division of tasks.
The uploader builds an animated mobile app with Claude Opus 5.5, using Higgsfield Seedance 2.5 for visual assets and Mobbin MCP for screen references. The listed steps cover app structure, animation improvements, and motion responsive to phone tilt.
The course uses a luxury e-commerce storefront to teach a more structured Claude Code workflow. Its chapters cover foundations, CLAUDE.md, permissions, Plan Mode, reusable skills, shipping the store, and subagents working in parallel.

Claude designs more efficient quantum circuits
Anthropic asked Claude to design eight types of quantum circuits and evaluated the results automatically. Some designs used substantially fewer resources than previously published examples, it says.
